Winter Break Extra Credit

Over break, you may do up to 5 "Current Event" article reviews. These must be articles written with the last year (so only 2011 articles). The articles can be about anything Geography-related, I would prefer that they be about either Europe, Russia, or Africa since these are the countries we are currently studying or will be studying shortly. For each article, please include the following:

1. Title
2. Author
3. Source (where did you get it? website? newspaper? etc)
4. Brief Summary: What is the article about? Topic, supporting and important details.
       - 3-5 complete sentences

5. Response: What did YOU think about the article? Did you learn something new? Do you agree with the article? Why or why not?
       - 3-5 complete sentences.

Each article review will be worth up to 5 points. If you chose to type your reviews, please email them to me at hurst.scienceclass@gmail.com before January 3. If you write them by hand, they MUST be turned in on January 4th, the day we return from break. Term 2 grades are due on the 5th.

Same Room... Same Teacher... Different Subject :)

Hello again!

Ms. Hurst again... in addition to being your new science teacher, I'm also going to be your new Geography Teacher.

We will stay in the same room, so you'll be with me from 11:50 until the end of the school day.

I'm going to do my best to pick up where your last teacher left off (either Ms. CB or...) but for some of you, we might be repeating a few things, and I'll try to have something else for you to work on until we are all at the same place.

One of my favorite teachers was Mr. Burnham, who was MY Geography teacher... So I'm really excited to have a chance to steal some of his ideas... they might seem a little goofy... but someday you'll thank me ;)

I'm excited that we're going to get to be together for TWO very different classes... and I hope you are too!
